Crispy KANZI® Apple Sheet Tart
INGREDIENTS
INSTRUCTIONS
Serves 4
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
2. Place the puff pastry onto a large tray lined with baking paper. Prick the puff pastry all over with a fork, leaving a border approximately 2 cm wide, to prevent excessive puffing during baking.
3. Arrange the apple slices on the puff pastry, leaving a border (but don’t worry about overlapping too much!) Gently press them in and sprinkle each slice with brown sugar.
4. Lightly beat the egg with the water, then brush it over the puff pastry edge. Generously sprinkle edges with demerara sugar and dust the entire tart with cinnamon.
5. Bake the tart in the oven for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the apples and sugar have caramelised (check from the 15 minute mark to ensure edges are not browning too quickly. If this is the case, move to a lower oven rack.
6. Drizzle with honey and dust with icing sugar. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
* demerara sugar (otherwise known as turbinado sugar) has a light caramel flavour and large granules which adds lots of delightful crunch! It's commonly found in most supermarkets across Australia, however, raw sugar may be used as a substitute.
